NASA and the Obama Administration

So if you have been following the latest news of controversy coming from the White House you are then aware that the NASA administrator Charles Bolden says President Obama has ordered him to pursue three new objectives.  Those objectives were to:
  1. "re-inspire children" to study science and math
  2. "expand our international relationships" and
  3. "reach out to the Muslim world."
Makes sense.  Wait.  What?  "Reach out to the Muslim world"?  What in the heck does that have to do with NASA.  These comments were made public in a recent interview that Mr. Bolden had with al-Jazeera.

"It is a matter of trying to reach out and get the best of all worlds, if you will, and there is much to be gained by drawing in the contributions that are possible from the Muslim (nations)," he said. He held up the International Space Station as a model, praising the contributions there from the Russians and the Chinese.

This seems to be the first time that a "religion" is getting the nod from NASA and the timing seems to be a bit suspicious with all that is going on in our country.  What makes this of further interest to me is that today the White House is contradicting the NASA administrator's claim that President Barack Obama assigned him to reach out to Muslims on science matters and the administration's officials have spoken with NASA about the matter.

Hmmm - again we see a conflict of what is being said in private and then what is said in public.  Will we ever know the truth in this administration?
